Helanus Mack Obituary

Helanus R. Mack Sr. was born on November 22, 1947 to the late Lounell Brumfield and Wilton Mack. Helanus was the first child of nine children.
Helanus attended Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Upon graduation in 1965, he attended Grambling College of Louisiana, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
After college, Helanus worked for the Social Security Administration for 35 years. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Social Security," which was inscribed on his retirement plaque.
Helanus was preceded in death by his first spouse, Betty S. Mack, the mother of his children. He is survived by his wife, Linda W. Mack, his children, Helanus R. Mack Jr. (Kena), Eleanor Nicole Mack, and Rachel Martin Lee (Robert), his grandchildren, Hailey N. Mack, Kaelyn L. Mack, Amir J. Sapp, Ayana J. Johnson, and Jeremiah C. Martin, his siblings, and a host of relatives and friends.
