Helen Baker Obituary
She was preceded in death by the love of her life James R. Baker "Bobby". They married December 7, 1957 in Nashville, TN. Helen and bobby shortly moved to Miami, Florida; he passed away December 28, 1983.Her sister Mary Corrine Hicks "Kinney Girl" of Smyrna, TN and her brother James C. McWhirter of Murfreesboro, TN also preceded her.
Helen worked for Miami Dade County public school system as cafeteria manager for 30 years, and part-time for Publix Bakery, Miami Lakes, Florida.
She is survived by sons, James R. Baker, Jr. "Jimmy" of Nashville, NC, Helen came to live with Jimmy the last year and a half; Randall C. Baker "Randy" and wife Marvia of Alabama; grandson, Randall C. Baker, Jr. (Sabrina) of Gainesville, Georgia; great-grandsons Adrian Baker and Eliza Baker of Georgia; granddaughter, Tabitha Lindgren of Lake City, Florida.
Loving sister-in-laws; Sharon McWhirter of Murfreesboro, TN. Judy Baker Anderson of Elm City, NC and Geraldine Ann Baker Nelson of Hollywood, MD;
Nephews, Thomas E. Barnes and Michael Barnes of Wilson, NC, Michael McWhirter (Tara) of Ellottsville, Indiana, Jason Nelson of Hollywood, MD, and Christopher Hicks of Shelbville, TN.
Nieces, Debbie McWhirter Taylor (Keith) of Murfreesboro, TN, Kaylyn Hall (Wayne) of Murfreesboro TN, Rebecka McWhirter of Nashville, TN, Juanita Oneeze Anderson of Elm City, NC, Judith Ann Langley "Prissy" of Bailey, NC, and Ashley Nelson Holiday "Mo" of Hollywood, MD.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 612 NE Vance Street, Wilson NC 27893. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street N Wilson NC,
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all caregivers, Joseph Harvey, Annie Singletary, Jackie Howell, Faye Snow, and Hospice Caretakers of Gentiva, Rocky Mount, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 612 NE Vance Street, Wilson NC 27893.
