Darrell Cleo Baker

DARRELL CLEO BAKER, 98, of Dixie, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026, in Charleston, West Virginia. Born on May 7, 1927, in Swiss, West Virginia Darrell lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in faith, family, and community.
He was the beloved son of the late Renee and Bert Baker and was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 65yrs Ruth Baker. He is survived by his sons Randy (Geraldine) Baker, John Baker, and Dwight Baker; his grandchildren Chad (Carol) Baker, Kristi Baker, and Charity (Andrew) Osborne; and his great-grandchildren Joseph, Zack, Layton, Aiden, Alyssa, Josie, and Silas. Darrell's devotion to his family was unwavering; he was a loving father and grandfather who found immense joy in their presence.
A man of deep faith, Darrell was a dedicated member of Bible Baptist Church of Belva for over 50 years. His commitment to his church reflected his love for Jesus and his dedication to living a life guided by spiritual principles. Due to his witnessing, there were several souls who found the Lord. His church community held a special place in his heart.
Darrell also took great pride in being an active member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). He was elected as the lifetime secretary which brought him so much joy.
Those who knew Darrell remember him as a kind and warm individual whose legacy is one of love, faith, and dedication a testament to a well-lived life. Also, his love for the WVU Mountaineers no matter the score.
Services will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2026, at Bible Baptist Church in Belva, WV. Viewing will be 11 a.m., - 1 p.m., and the service to follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Lee Swor officiating.
