Bertrand Funeral Homes (Mason Funeral Home) - PleasantvilleDavid Edmon “Ed” Baker was born May 4, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Clifford and Catherine (Trass) Baker.
Ed was raised in Des Moines, graduating from East High School. His passion for cars led Ed to spend many years in the paint and auto body business and cars sales. In later years, he also worked in the landscape and tree trimming business. Ed and his soulmate, Lydia Brown enjoyed 22 wonderful years together.
In his spare time, Ed enjoyed fishing, kayaking, motorcycles and old cars. He appreciated eating out, and was a frequent customer of Tasty Tacos and a connoisseur of Code Red Mountain Dew. Ed’s moto was, “No one should ever be hungry!”. Family and friends were his greatest joy, especially when there was a spirited game of UNO or when Ed was cracking jokes.
Ed passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his home, in Swan, Iowa, at the age of 67 years.
In addition to his parents: Catherine (Merle) Hartwig and Clifford Baker, Sr., Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford “Tom” Baker.
Those left to cherish Ed’s memory include his children: Ashley Baker, Josh (Sheila) Baker, Jayme (Andrew) Sayasane and David Baker, Jr.; best friend and partner, Lydia Brown; bonus children: Jacob (Meribeth) Shelley and Shane Robey; grandchildren: Jordyn Pate, Harlie Erdman, Athyna Sayasane and Andrew Baker; sister, Brenda Baker Fisher and many other family members and friends.
