Kenneth "Kenny" Duane Horsman, was born on May 14th, 1947, in Pleasantville, Iowa. He peacefully departed this life on December 5th, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Kenny graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1965. Kenny enlisted in the Navy in December 1966 and was stationed on the USS Oriskanay during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972.
Kenny was united in marriage to Lynn Brooks on January 2nd, 1971. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and three children: Jolene, Thomas, and Valerie.
Kenny was employed at AMF for 17 years before retiring from CemenTech. Kenny was active in his community, notably serving for 20 years with the Pleasantville Fire Department. He was also a valued member of the American Legion, Post 108 for many years. His commitment to helping others was a source of pride for him.
Kenny enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and watching westerns. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife Lynn, children Jolene Horsman (Jerry Erdmann) of Olathe, KS; Thomas (Crystal) Horsman of Pleasantville; and Valerie Wright of Pleasantville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashton McCann-Horsman and Brayden Wright. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Jiggs" and Mary Opal Horsman, as well as his sister Harriet Wagner, along with cherished in-laws and other loved ones.
His memory will be celebrated during a visitation on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a memorial service on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Both at Bertrand Funeral Homes (Mason Funeral Home) located at 902 N. State St, Pleasantville, IA, 50225. The service will be live streamed. A private burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pleasantville Emergency Services or American Legion, Post 108.
Kenny's remarkable journey was characterized by service, dedication, love, and laughter, qualities that will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered by all who knew him.
