Obituary For Larry Clayton Batten
Janesville, WI - Larry Clayton Batten, born on September 25, 1936, in
Pleasantville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 89. A retired gentleman of quiet dignity and enduring values, Larry lived a life marked by love, integrity, and dedication to his family.
Larry was the beloved son of the late Earl M. Batten and Alys B. (Litchfield) Batten. He shared many cherished years with his wife, Ann L. Batten, who preceded him in death. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and happiness.
Educated through his high school studies, Larry's wisdom and compassion were evident in all his endeavors. In his later years, he chose to retire, having spent a life dedicated to the wellbeing of those around him.
Larry is survived and fondly remembered by his son, Lawrence H. Batten, his daughter, Lori E. Nicholson, as well as other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Larry enjoyed outdoor activities including golfing, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. As his mobility decreased, he played euchre almost daily and enjoyed sitting on his porch observing the nature. The group of wild turkeys living in the neighborhood were the best sights.
In the last year, he fished with his son as often as possible, even though getting into and out of the boat was difficult. There were many awesome days on Wisconsin lakes during this time and great memories were made.
At the time of his passing, Larry was visiting family in Virginia from his home in
Janesville, Wisconsin. Though no services are planned at this time, his family finds solace in the quiet strength of his memory. Simply Cremation is assisting Larry's family during this difficult time. Please share memories and express condolences at SimplyCremationOnline.com.
