Basile, Helen 'Ginger' Fogarty
Helen Ginger Basile (née Fogarty), 76, of Cambria Heights, Queens NY, passed away on March 4th, 2024. Helen, daughter of Bart and Helen Fogarty, loving wife of Bart Basile, sister to Bob, Terry, Rod, Jerry & Sheila, passed away in her sleep on March 4th, 2024 in Rockville Centre, NY. She is survived by her children Marie Basile, Bart Basile and Sarah Basile and her granddaughter Evelyn Yostpille, all living on Long Island and New York State.
Ginger was incredibly selfless and compassionate; working at The Children's Museum or performing acts of service like caregiving for the elderly or infirmed. Never one to shy away from a solid ear bend, Ginger had a real knack for just listening and rarely judging.
'Ginger' Basile aka 'The Spice Of Life' was a consummate homemaker with an incredible green thumb and penchant for finding just the right knickknacks. Ginger, a gifted dancer, loved Irish music and céilí dancing. There wasn't a function where you could keep Bart and Ginger from cutting up the carpet and 'showing them how it's done.' She is sorely and deeply missed by all that knew her.
Helen Basile is finally at peace, no longer in harms way. Services will be held this Thursday, March 7th at Perry Funeral Home, 118 Union Ave, Lynbrook, NY 11563. There are two service times: 2pm-4pm & 7-9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made in her name to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans organization) or any disabled veteran non profit organization of your choice.
