Helen Theresa Nelson Batch, 70, of Fort Washington, Maryland, passed peacefully Friday September 26, 2025. Helen was born July 9, 1955, in Washington D.C. to the late Alice and James Nelson.
Helen was a graduate of Crossland High School in Camp Springs, MD, where she had taken cosmetology classes. She held several different jobs post-high school, and when her daughter Laura was born, her career changed to full-time mother. Later, she would work for many years at Friendly's Ice Cream restaurant as a waitress and payroll processor. After Friendly's, she went to work at Giant Food as a cashier for several more years.
She met her partner in life, Lawrence Raymond Batch, Jr and they married on April 20, 1979.
They share 3 children, Bryan Lawrence Batch, Laura Rachel Pede, Charles Thomas Batch.
Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family (especially her grandkids) and friends.
Helen will always be remembered as a hard worker, dedicated to her family, always made sure no one went hungry when they came over for a visit, always being a good sport whenever one of us would bring a new animal into the house.
Helen is reunited in heaven with her husband Lawrence Raymond Batch, Jr., parents Alice Ann Nelson and James Nelson Sr; and her sisters Judith Hoyer and Mary Nelson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bryan, Laura, and Charles, Grandchildren Garrett Batch (Bryan), Olivia Pede (Laura), Bentley Batch (Charles), Lucas Pede (Laura), her siblings James "Bud" Nelson Jr, Kathryn Brown, and several nieces & nephews.
