Helen M. Cornet, 97, of Carmel passed away on April 16, 2024. Helen was born in Milton, IN on January 12, 1927; to the late William and Mary (Seffrin) Market. She graduated from St. Vincent’s Nursing School in 1948. She was a charter member of St. Pius X in Indianapolis until 1982. She then became a charter member of St. Elizabeth Seton. She was a den scout mother and leader for many years.
She married Phil Cornet, who preceded her in passing in 2009, after 61 years of marriage. She is survived by three sons, John (Laura), Ken (Stephanie), and Jim (Vickie) Cornet; daughter-in-law, Alicia (wife of Tom) Cornet; six grandchildren; Justin and Brent Cornet, Katrina (Randy) Arthur, Jenny (Jeff) Hecht, Katherine Cornet, Karen (Josh) Smith; eight great-grandchildren Brandon Cornet, Lathan and Rylan Arthur, Colton, Margeaux, and Juliette Hecht, J.J. and Cameron Smith; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Market; many nieces and nephews; and close super friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in passing by a son, Tom Cornet; grandson, Ken Cornet II; and two brothers, Stanley (Carole Ann) Market and Lowell Market.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.
