Ellen Coyne, 98, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at Marywood Heights. She was the wife of the late Patrick Martin Coyne.
Born July 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Sarah Flanigan Tyrell.
A graduate of Dunmore High School, Helen devoted her life to her family and home and was a longtime member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish.
Ellen's Irish heritage was a source of deep pride. She was actively involved in the Irish Culture Society and, alongside her beloved husband, was a founding member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians-an organization that reflected her commitment to tradition, community, and cultural celebration.
She is survived by her children: Mary Ellen Kenehan and husband Michael of Clarks Summit; Sarann Fiscus and husband Jim of Dunmore; and Patrick Coyne and wife Mary Rose of Charleston, SC. Eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Katherine Flood and Alice Burke; and brothers Joseph, Leo, Paul, Edward, and Eugene Tyrell as well as three infant siblings.
Ellen's legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the stories she shared, and the love she gave so freely. Her family will remember her for her devotion, her wit, and her unwavering spirit.
Ellen's family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff across all departments at Marywood Heights for the exceptional care, warmth, and dignity they provided. Their compassion will always be remembered.
A celebration of Ellen's life - full of stories, laughter, and love - will be held on a future date.
