Helen Meekins Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31, 2025.
Helen Louise Meekins Davis, the daughter of the late James Meekins and Louise Pierce Meekins, was born on October 23, 1946 in Roland, North Carolina.
Helen attended Southside High School in Roland, North Carolina where she graduated in 1966. She met the love of her life, Gene A. Davis, and from that union they were blessed with six beautiful children.
Helen drove the school bus in Roland, North Carolina for some years. She also cooked for the Newark Board of Education schools for several years.
Helen loved cooking and listening to her Gospel music and R&B. Taking time with her family meant a lot to her. She loved shopping and spoiling her children. She was very outspoken, humble but outspoken. "That's Big Momma For You!"
Helen did not play when it was time to take care of business. Taking a trip to North Carolina to visit her brothers and sister-in-law was a joy. Oh...don't forget her animals. Crossword puzzles and reading her Holy Bible was what she loved.
On October 18, 2025 Helen gained her wings to join her loving mother and father, Louise Pierce Meekins and James Meekins; and her aunt, Frances Southern.
Helen leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Tina Davis, Eric Davis, Rochelle Walker, Clara Wiggins a.k.a. Charlie, Regina McKay and Barbie Castro; her grandchildren, Juwan Walton a.k.a. Wan, Shannell Walton a.k.a. Shay-Shay, Pearl Shay and Ciara Hinton a.k.a. CeCe; her great grandchildren, Khalil Marcellus and Kehlain Payne; her siblings, Sherman Meekins (wife Betty Meekins), James Jr. (wife Cathy Meekins), Furman Meekins (wife Joyce Meekins), Robert Baker (wife Betty Baker), Frank Davis (wife Maxine Davis), Curmit Davis (wife Helen Davis) and Nancy Davis; an aunt, Marilyn Moton; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
