Helen Funfar Obituary

Helen Funfar
March 6, 1932 - August 22, 2025
Helen Viola (Danielson) Funfar, 93, of Enumclaw, WA, died August 22, 2025, after a long battle with dementia.
Helen was born March 6, 1932, in Fergus Falls to Melvin and Alma Danielson. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1950 and began her career as a schoolteacher in rural Fergus Falls, teaching in one-room schoolhouses before marrying Edward Funfar of Lidgerwood, ND, in 1957.
In the 1960s, Ed's work with Boeing took the young family across the country, including to Washington, Florida, South Dakota, Missouri, Wyoming and North Dakota, before settling in Enumclaw in 1969. There, the couple raised their three sons, James (Jim), Joel and Jonathan (Jon). Helen also taught preschool for several years in Enumclaw.
Helen was proud of her Norwegian heritage and Lutheran faith, which she shared with her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed; her son, Joel; her sister, Mildred Hansen of Fergus Falls; and her brother, Harold Danielson of Fargo.
Survivors include sons, Jim (Patty Evoy) of Auburn, WA and Jon (Roberta Chalaris) of Richland, WA; granddaughters, Hannah Funfar and Kate Funfar; sisters, Ethel Danielson and Arlene Herigstad of Fergus Falls, and Harriet Fronning of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S., Kent, WA. Please share a memory at www.weeksfuneralhomes.com.
