Helen Louise Glaab, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at home on September 19th 2025 in Midland, Texas. She was 67 years old. She was preceded in death by her father Troy Gerbitz, mother Dorothy Gerbitz and her sister Rosemary Ziegler.

She is survived by her husband Lyle Glaab, son Christopher Glaab, daughter Shannon West and grandson Jackson West.

Helen was born in Casa Grande, Arizona on June 15, 1958 and was adopted by her beloved parents a few years later with her sister, Rosemary. They lived at the El Paso Natural Gas Casa Grande compressor station for a few years before moving to the EPNG compressor station near Williams, Arizona.

Helen attended Williams High School where she met Lyle as a sophomore. They dated until graduation in 1977. She then attended Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, before leaving with her sister and parents for Algeria in Northern Africa. While her dad worked at the El Paso LNG project outside of Oran, they were able to take vacations to Morocco, Paris and Palma, Mallorca, Spain.

Helen also enjoyed time on the Mediterranean coast near Oran, snorkeling, spear fishing and hunting octopuses to cook on the beach.

Helen and her sister moved back to Abilene, Texas, where she lived and worked until she and Lyle were married in Albany, Texas on April 5, 1980. They moved to the Permian Basin in 1982 to work and raise their children.

Helen enjoyed the people and community of Midland and was comforted by them during the last year. She will always be loved and missed.

The family would like to thank the people and staff at Midland Memorial Hospital, Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital and the Parks Senior Rehabilitation Center for their care and assistance during the last few months.
