Helen Hampton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vance-Wilson & Jarrett Funeral Directors on Dec. 24, 2025.
Helen Hampton, 82 of Morrilton, Arkansas transitioned on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Helen Ruth Payne was born to the late Harry and Corrine Payne on June 15, 1943, in Morrilton, Arkansas. She was the first child from this union. One son, Michael Lynn Payne, one brother, Johnny (John) Lee Payne, and one sister, Lorean Jackson, preceded her in death.
At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ and joined Greater Union Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I. M. McCloud. She graduated from L. W. Sullivan High School in Morrilton, Arkansas, in 1961. After high school, she worked at St. Anthony for many years before moving on to Arrow Automotives. Following her retirement, she began working in home healthcare, where she developed a deep passion for caring for the individuals she served. Her hobbies included cooking, tending to her flowers, spending time with her family, dancing and praising her Lord throughout the church.
Helen met and married Willis Hampton. For many years, she poured her heart into leading the youth department and the Jr. Choir at Greater Union under the direction of Danny Black. She also took great pride in caring for the church she loved so dearly, faithfully handling its custodial duties until her passing.
On November 13, 2025, God saw fit to take her home in reward for a life well-lived. Her Legacy will live on as we remember her beautiful spirit and personality.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Terry (Doris) Payne of Morrilton; her beloved grandsons, Terrance Payne and Trevor Payne of Dallas, Texas; Sikora (Chris) Daniel of Topeka, Kansas; Anisa (Alex) Thomas-Payne of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Shaquon of Fort Smith; as well as four precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Helen L. Payne of Morrilton, Arkansas, Dorothy (Ronald) Carter of Conway, Arkansas and Mildred (Tommy) Walker of Little Rock, Arkansas; her brother, Ray Charles (Charlotte) Payne of Menifee, Arkansas; her sister-in-law, Frances Payne; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
God saw you were getting weaker,
So, he did what he knew was best
He came and stood beside you
And whispered, "Come to me and rest."
