Obituary of Helen A. Lucia

Helen Lucia, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (affectionately known as "Mimi") passed away peacefully in her home on August 15, 2025. She was 96 years old.

Born in New York City on November 12, 1928, to Robert and Mary Jimenez, she will be remembered for her unconditional love, cheerfulness, strength and words of wisdom.

Helen graduated from Washington Irving High School and began work as a secretary. She married Alfred P. Lucia in 1950. They lived in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, where their son, Alfred Jr., was born in 1952. Two years later they purchased a home and moved to Bellerose, Queens where their daughter, Lydia, was born in 1955. As a young mother, she was a stay-at-home mom who was devoted to her children. She eventually returned to work as a teacher's aide in Mineola High School where she worked until she retired at the age of 72. Sadly, she became afflicted with Alzheimer's and succumbed after a long battle.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Alfred (Rosalie) and Lydia (Frank); grandchildren Nicole (David), Victoria (Benedict), Marissa (Bryan), Alfred (Jennifer) and Nicholas; and great-children Frank, Brianna, Eliza, Caroline, Lia, and Luke. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Alfred.

Visitation will be on August 25th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapels, 2175 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, Nassau County.

A memorial service will be held on August 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 242-20 88th Avenue, Bellerose, Queens County.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alzheimer's Association, which can be reached at alz.org.
