Helen Edens McRoy GREENVILLE - Helen Edens McRoy, 91, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, December 8, 2023, at 3:00 PM in Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by her pastor, Rev. John Mark Windley. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mrs. McRoy, a native of Onslow County, was daughter of the late Leon Edward and Mary Caroline Edens. She lived most of her life in the Greenville and Winterville communities of Pitt County. She was employed as a cook and waitress for many years in several restaurants in Pitt County, including Dora's, Sumrell's, and in the Hospital Coffee Shop. Later in life she worked with her grandson in AAA Tree Service in multiple capacities, continuing her work up until she was recently taken sick. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McRoy was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie McRoy, a great grandchild, Elijah McRoy, and a brother, Bud Edens. She is survived by her son, Charlie Edward McRoy and wife, Hava of Beulaville, NC; daughter, Ronnie McRoy Kirk of Winterville; grandchildren, Mathaniel Glenn Kirk and wife, Jessica, James Robert Kirk and wife, Lindsay, Norman Leon Kirk and wife, Ashley, Amanda McRoy and Charlie Edward McRoy, Jr.; a great granddaughter and caregiver, Sarah Kirk Jones; 13 more great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Edens; sisters, Nancy Shoals and Glenda Gibson. and a special niece, Cindy Worthington of the home.
