Helen Morris

Born December 27, 1921, in Alexandria, Virginia. She passed peacefully at home on June 29, 2025, in Palmyra, Virginia. A lifelong resident of Alexandria, Helen graduated from George Washington High School. In 1940 she married the love of her life, Lewis D. Morris, Sr., also of Alexandria, who predeceased her after 59 years of marriage. The secret to her longevity was a daily Diet Coke and Hershey chocolate

Helen was an active member of Groveton Baptist Church where she taught a girls Sunday School class and was a leader in the Youth Program. Residing in the West End of Alexandria for more that 50 years, Helen developed close relationships with her beloved neighbors on N. Gaillard Street, Peachtree Place, Ormond Avenue, Orleans Place and Howard Street.

She is survived by her son, Lewis, Jr. (Kay), granddaughter Emily " Carver" Davidson (Gary), grandson Stephen Morris (Hannah), grandchildren Kendall and Cooper Davidson and Hutchins and Coleman Morris, niece Dixie Carver Goss, cousin Darrell Meyer (Sharada), cousins Diane Rowe (Tony), "Skip" Rowe and Raymond Rowe, cousins Vincent Minner (Sherrie), Cindy Minner and Wayne Minner, sister in law Eda Morris, nephew Danny Morris, nieces Cathy and Paula Morris, nephews Eddie and Andrew Morris, niece Anita Marie Morris and her beloved caregiver Donna Smith.

A funeral service and burial will be conducted in Alexandria at a date to be determined later. Donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia.
