Helen (Ogonowski) Niski, 94, of Bristol, entered the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Ingraham Manor, to be with her devoted husband Edmund "Ed" of 49 1/2 years, who passed away in March 2001. She was born in Forestville on January 28, 1931, the youngest child of the late Alexander and Agnes (Blasczak) Ogonowski. Growing up in Forestville, she was a graduate of Sarah E. Reynold School and Bristol High School, Class of 1948 and enjoyed going to class reunions with her sister-in-law Agnes, who was a high school classmate and other friends from the class. While her children were still young, but in school, she worked at the Howard Johnson Restaurant, which was close to her home and later for the Travelers Ins. Co. She also did volunteer work at Bristol Hospital, but most of all she enjoyed her trips over the years to Las Vegas, Florida, Bermuda, Hawaii and Poland. Helen enjoyed the outdoors and had picnics at her home and her sister's home. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by five brothers, two-week-old Adam, William, John, Stanley and Walter; one much loved sister, Nellie Weeks and her son-in-law Larry Palin. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Niski and her gentleman friend Peter Belizi, Marianne Niski and Janice Palin; one wonderful and much-loved grandson Stephen Palin and his wife Kelly; her two godchildren nieces, Eileen Shea and her husband Tom and Nancy Micloskey and her husband Dave and other nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Bristol for many years and belonged to the Ladies Guild and Golden Agers at her beloved church, along with the Bristol Senior Center. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, followed by a procession to St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. then to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
