Helen O'Kane

Helen O'Kane, 75 of Little Falls, N.J. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
She was born in Newark, N.J. to the late Joseph and Marjorie (nee Krane) O'Kane. Helen resided in Bloomfield and N. Arlington before settling in Little Falls.
She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel, grades 1st thru 8th and then Girls Vocational of Newark High School where she would gradate with a secretary education in 1967.
For 32 years she worked for Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Newark retiring in December 2024.
Helen was a remarkably independent person. Though she lived alone, she was supported by Thomas, her best friend Roseann, and her dedicated aides. When able to, she loved going to shows at the NJPAC in downtown Newark.
Preceded in death by her parents and her adored brother, Joseph T. O'Kane, Helen is survived by her beloved brother, Thomas O'Kane; loving sister-in-law, Jocelyne O'Kane; doting niece, Catherine O'Kane and her husband, Matthew Dollar; best friend, Roseann Becker and many dear relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025 from 1-4 p.m. at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24 at the funeral home. A Catholic Prayer service will be offered at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover, N.J.
