Helen B. Romero, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Lakewood, Colorado, on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her devoted children. Born on September 24, 1933, in Sopris, Colorado, Helen's vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone she met.

A feisty and loving woman, Helen was known for her unwavering faith and dedication to her family. She never shied away from sharing her love for Jesus, embodying her faith through daily acts of kindness and prayer. Her nurturing nature ensured that her home was a haven for her loved ones. It was never too difficult for her to prepare meals for her family, always eager to provide her sons with something delicious to eat whenever they visited. Her house was always stocked with an abundance of water, ensuring that no one ever went thirsty.

Helen took pride in her cooking, especially her delicious Mexican cuisine. Menudo, tamales, and Sam's burritos were some of her specialities, showcasing her heritage and love for flavorful dishes that brought family together. Her artistry shone through in her ceramics, which she made and painted by hand, as well as in her joyful singing. Even in her later years, she engaged her mind with word puzzles and delighted in watching her favorite game shows, with a special place in her heart for the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies—win or lose.

Helen's legacy is carried on by her loving children: Raymond (Yolanda), Phillip, Mark, Marie (Tom), Cynthia (Richard), and Judy. She took immense pride in her family, encompassing 11 granddaughters, 7 grandsons, and numerous great-grandchildren. Each one held a special place in her heart, as she loved and worried about all of them, always making room for laughter and warmth.

Among her proudest accomplishments is raising her children unto the Lord with love and resilience and trusting in the Lord. Helen navigated life's trials with an indomitable spirit and grace, teaching her family the importance of love, faith, and community.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elvira Gonzales, and her 14 siblings, all of whom supported and shaped her into the incredible woman she became. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

As we remember and celebrate Helen B. Romero, we resonate with the warmth of her legacy, the strength of her love, and the joy she brought into our lives. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all those who were touched by her generous spirit.
