Helen Schaeffer Obituary

Mrs. Helen Oliver Schaeffer, beloved wife of Cecil, entered into rest on Friday, September 5, 2025, at her residence.

Helen, born in Washington DC in 1933, was one of seven children born to Benjamin Oliver and Hazel Cash Oliver. As a young woman, she met Cecil Schaeffer, and they began a love affair that would last 57 years. They were married in 1953, and had two girls, Bonni and Sandie. After Helen retired as a logistician from the Department of Defense, she and Cecil moved south to Georgia to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to Helen, and she'll be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonni Goeddel (Mathew Prohaska) and Sandie Ginn (Bruce), her grandchildren, Kevin Goeddel (Jill Smith), Bryon Goeddel (Kristie), Patrick Ginn, Tyler Ginn and Aubree Ginn, and her great grandchildren, Emili Goeddel, Eve Goeddel, McKenzie Goeddel, Braylon Goeddel, Raelyn Ginn, Dempsey Ginn, Baya Ginn, Isla Ginn and Jonah Ginn. She was preceded in death by her six siblings and her parents, Benjamin and Hazel.

Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Maryland at a later date.
