Boersma Funeral HomeHelen Schultz, of Wheatfield, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on March 8, 2026 at the age of 89.
Helen was born in DeMotte, Indiana, to Cornelius and Jane (Van de Graaf) Van Keppel on March 23, 1936. Helen graduated from DeMotte High School and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in DeMotte, and was previously active in her church by teaching Sunday School, coordinating the youth group, and being an active member of the women’s group. Years ago, she also was an active member and past president of the local AGLOW ministry, and a very active member of the Lake County Saddle Club. Helen grew up riding horses from the age of 3 until later in life. She was also part of the Garden Club, and loved to paint. Her artistic and creative ability was amazing. Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1974; and her main purpose in life was for others to know Him. She was the 7th child of 9. Helen loved her family, flowers, gardening, horseback riding, and painting, but most of all she loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. James 1:12 (NIV) “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord promised to those who love him.”
Helen is survived by her children: Debbi (Steve) Primeau, Tim (Becky) Schultz, Sherri Schultz, Kevan Schultz, Mitch Schultz, grandchildren: Michael, Jeremy Brook, and Jennifer Greshaw, Katy Schultz, Ashley Schultz, Jessica (Scott) Hodgson, Ryan (Carli) Schultz, Erik (Taylor) Schultz, and great-grandchildren: Victoria, Samantha, Jack, Elly, Hudson, Sophie, Liam, Olivia, Miles, Eli, Zak, Ben, Kaylee, and Lukas.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Marie (Robert) Burbach, Gerrit (Gretchen) Van Keppel, Connie (Lyle) Noteboom, Bernard (Gwen) Van Keppel, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (James) Kingma, Jane (Lester) VanOort, Cornelius ‘Junior’ (Marilyn) Van Keppel, and John (Barbara, who survives) Van Keppel.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Faith Lutheran Church of DeMotte, 1700 S Halleck St., DeMotte, Indiana.
