Helen T. Stephens, 99, of Warner Robins, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025.
Born on September 28, 1926, in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Zeno Tyler and Mary Lizzy Prince. Helen lived a long and meaningful life, marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a strong sense of community.
She dedicated her career to the United Food & Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), from which she retired after many years of service. Through her work, Helen touched the lives of countless colleagues and was admired for her dedication, compassion, and steadfast commitment to fairness.
Helen’s life spanned nearly a century, during which she witnessed remarkable changes in the world while remaining grounded in her values of kindness, perseverance, and integrity. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her children, William J. Barnhill, II, Helen J. Sandford, and Mariam (Susie) F. Spense; and siblings, Inez Stevens, June Tyler, Lucile I. Todd, David Ethel Tyler, Mitchell S. Tyler, Mary Alice Stevens, James Thomas Tyler, Ernest Poe Tyler, and Sylvia Marie Hill.
Her memory will be cherished by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Helen is also survived by her son, Danny Ray Barnhill.
A graveside service life will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Parkway Memorial Gardens.
