Helen Thompson Obituary

Helen Evelyn Thompson, 96, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community, one day shy of her 97th birthday.

Helen was born in Belle Center on August 10, 1928, to the late John and Mamie (Groves) James. She married Douglas Lee Thompson on December 18, 1948, in Covington, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Cheri Osteen; granddaughter Tammy Randall; brothers Earl James and Richard James; sisters Ruth Akers, Mildred Hill, and Norma Jean Stanbro; and daughter-in-law Deb Thompson.

Helen is survived by children: Phil (Cindy) Thompson of Bellefontaine, Craig Thompson of Bellefontaine, and Connie (Bill) Rose of Bellefontaine; 6 grandchildren: David (Gwen) Osteen, Mandy (Corey) Godwin, Karla (Joni) Romine, Ryan (Nicole) Thompson, Heather (Troy) Miller, and Robin (Dawn) Dallas-Rose; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend Jenny Mosier of Bellefontaine.

Helen worked at DAB for 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, and she loved Bingo. Helen was a former member of Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, and also attended Rushsylvania Church of Christ.

Pastor John James will officiate Helen’s funeral service on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at noon at Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral from 10am - noon. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Mt. Victory.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hi Point Church of Christ, 1815 St. Rt. 540, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
