Helena Koschman Obituary
On September 10, 2016, Helena Koschman, in her 83rd year, peacefully passed at home surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Nicolas Koschman. Loving mother of Mary (Egon), Nadine (Todd) George (Jennifer), Alex (Gail) and Olena (Paul). Dear grandmother of Nicole, Greg, Shannon, Emma, Logan, Austin, Connor and A.J. Predeceased by infant brothers Ivan and Michael, she will be sadly missed by sister Ada (Albert), extended family and dear friends.
Helena was born in Ukraine and proudly passed along her Ukrainian heritage to her family through her involvement in the London Ukrainian community and church. She was well known for her poetry recitals at cultural events, her years of work at the Ukrainian Country Club and most of all for her love of cooking and feeding others. She was the quintessential family matriarch.
There will be visitation in the Needham Funeral Home (520 Dundas St) on Monday September 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Panachyda (Ukrainian prayers) to be held between 7-7:30. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 10 am at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church (151 King Edward Dr., London). Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Tributes may be made at www.needhamfuneralhome.com
