Hellen Jenkins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sellars Funeral Home - Lebanon on Feb. 4, 2026.
Hellen Jenkins, age 96, passed away on February 3, 2026. Hellen Marie Sutton Jenkins was born in Hopkinsville KY to Louise Christina Barnhouse Sutton and Albert Slayton Sutton. She married Bill Jenkins and with him, Hellen was able to achieve her life's dream of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved her role as homemaker and matriarch of the family. Brother Bill's role as pastor just made her family that much bigger. In the years of her marriage, no matter what Bill felt led to do, or where he felt led to go, she was a helpmate and stood beside him every step of the way, from New Hampshire to Hawaii, as well as places in between. She enjoyed entertaining friends when they visited, and she loved listening to music and singing. Family time was her favorite time. Crocheting and needlework were her hobbies in her younger days. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church.

Hellen, "spelled with 2 lls" as she would always say, is survived by her children Janet (Van) Bayne and Michael (Tanya) Jenkins, grandchildren Jacquelyne (Matt) Swallows, Joshua Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins, Jennifer Bayne, and R.D. Bayne, great-grandchildren Alexis Swallows, Layla Swallows, Jordan Bayne, and Grace Bayne, and beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Brother Bill Jenkins in 2014, sons Mark Jenkins and David Jenkins, parents Louise Sutton Gibbons and Albert Slayton Sutton, step-father Charles Gibbons, and brother Nathan Sutton.

The family extends their special thanks to Amber's Angels, Gentiva Hospice, Marian Spears, and special friend and neighbor Chasity Christian.

The Funeral Service, conducted by Pastor Will McReynolds and Brother Russ Stephens, is 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Entombment in the Wilson County Memorial Mausoleum will follow the service. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon.

Memorial Donations may be made in her name to Gideons International and/or Hope Baptist Church.
