Helmut Poths

A smile that will be forever missed. We are deeply saddened to announce our beloved dad, Helmut Poths, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at The Renaissance at Coeur D'Alene Assisted Living in Coeur D'Alene, ID where he resided the past 3 months to be near his daughter.

Helmut was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Adolf and Dina. He lived his childhood through WW2 and then in later years met our mother, Hannelore Zulauf, whom he married in 1957. They moved to the USA in 1959 to start a new journey together. His first job was in a grocery store in Milton FreeWater, OR but later became the owner of Roy's Chuck Wagon in Walla Walla, WA. In 1972, Helmut and Hannelore divorced and shortly after he relocated to Port Angeles, WA. He became the owner of Roy's Chuck Wagon and eventually met Janet Bunch. In 1978, Helmut and Janet married. They continued ownership of Roy's Chuck Wagon which later became Rosewood's Family Buffet. They also owned The Greenery for a brief time. Helmut became a widower December 2021. Helmut is survived by his 3 children, Stewart, Monika (husband Aaron), Eleanor, and 1 stepson, Robert (wife Carrie). Helmut also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Bryan, Robyn, Julie, and Anna (husband Tim), along with 1 great-grandchild, Wesley.

Helmut will join his wife at Mt Angeles Memorial Park.
