Heloise Landry Rivere, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA, born February 1, 1927, at Halfway Plantation in the Belle Alliance area has passed away peacefully, in her sleep at her daughter’s home in Baton Rouge on March 13, 2025 at the astounding age of 98.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Anita M. Rivero (Baldwin), two sons, Camille J. Rivere and Christopher A. Rivero, and son-in-law, O. Dent Wood. Also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Justin Hebert, Chuck Booker, Jr and Stephanie Craig/ Rivere, a great-granddaughter Kassidy Nicole Henson, her sister, Laura Ann Ourso, two brothers, Ray Landry and Tiny Raffray, as well as her mother Maude Acosta Landry Raffray, father Avery Landry and step-dad Pete Raffray.
Heloise is survived by her loving son, Edward J. Rivere (wife, Vanissa); her daughters, Carol R. Gauthreaux, Patricia R. Viator, and Linda R. Wood, bonus children, Deborah Sue Rivere-Nabors (Steve) and Ernest J. Rivere, Jr.(Carol Marie) her brothers, C.J. Raffray and Lonnie Raffray. She was a cherished Mother, Grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a beloved nanny/ Godmother leaving behind a long legacy of love and devotion.
A woman of many talents, Heloise, was an accomplished baker, having worked at and retired from Calandro's Supermarket, on Government St. She was known for her kind and caring spirit, as well as her love for life's simple pleasures, such as fishing, family, friends and cooking. Her warm heart and generous soul touched the lives of all who had the pleasure to know her. And who can forget her competitive spirit when “playing” word games, dominoes and card games!
To her family, Heloise was lovingly known as "Mawmaw". To her friends, she was affectionately called "Weezie" or "Mama Weezie". No matter the name, her love and presence will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to experience it. Her memory will live on in the hearts and souls of her family and friends and all who were blessed to have known her.
A memorial service will be held to honor her life and legacy on Wednesday March 26, 2025 at
Kristenwood Chapel and Reception Facility,
14025 Greenwell Springs Rd (between Frenchtown Rd and Central Thruway), Greenwell Springs, LA 70739.
Visitation w/family begins at 2:00 pm in the Chapel,
with the Memorial Service starting at 2:45 pm.
Followed immediately by food and fellowship in the
Reception Facility until 6:30ish.
