Henrí E. Faust was born on March 31, 1964, in Columbia, SC to Vivian T. Coaxum and the late Henry E. Faust and departed this life on October 3, 2021, at the University Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Dré, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Comsewogue High School, Port Jefferson Station, NY in 1982. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and remained until June 1990 when he received an honorable discharge. He then attended Nassau Community College in Hempstead, NY and Fort Valley State in Fort Valley, GA.
Working with and helping people was one of his gifts; therefore, when Dré returned home, he worked for the St. Christopher-Ottilie Group Home in Sea Cliff, NY and the Salvation Army Wayside Home School in New York, NY. After moving to Charlotte, NC, Dré continued in his purpose by working with disabled children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. Dré's careers included working for Enterprise in Charlotte, NC. Dré then connected his dream of becoming a long-distance truck driver with helping others. For over 25 years, he worked for Conway Trucking and Ryder Transport Company, and was the owner of Wheels Worth Turning, a concierge transportation service for seniors and individuals in need of non-emergency transportation.
Dré was not only loving and kind-hearted, he was a natural comedian which contributed to him being a successful DJ. He was a DJ for Heat FM 87.9 in Charlotte, NC with his brotherly friend, Arthur "Artie" Johns. He also worked with Gang Starr's Chris Martin "DJ Premier" as Tour Manager.
Dré used his creativity by sharing his love for music and delving into hobbies, such as photography and building things. Always following within his desire to help others, Dré shared his love for helping and mentoring youth by coaching basketball through Park and Recreations and AAU. Caring for all youth, Dre' would not only buy snacks for his team but he would buy snacks for the other teams as well. The name of his summer camp, Uncle Dré's Summer Camp, says it all.
Dré was a member of Moore's Sanctuary AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC where he was instrumental in starting a basketball tournament for youth. He was also active with the men's ministry.
Dré is preceded in death by his son, Joshua E. Faust. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving daughter, Natalie Faust of Durham, NC; his parents, Vivian T. and Richard Coaxum, Sr. of Columbia, SC; his siblings, Carletta Stearns of Greenville, SC, Edward Faust of Charlotte, NC, and William (Theresa) Coaxum, Jr of Douglassville, PA; his brotherly friend, Artie (Tawanda) Johns of Charlotte, NC; his great aunt, Annie Mae Jameson; his uncles, Bobby Thompson and Marshall Thompson of Columbia, SC; his aunt, Helen L. Dow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
