Henrietta (Buist) Van Ryswyk, 82, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on September 22, 2025, following a stroke. Affectionately known as “Henri,” she was born on September 3, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of the late Gerrit James Buist and Avina VanderJagt Buist. Henri attended Portland State University and built a long, devoted career in real estate, known for her integrity and care for the people she served. In her younger years Henri loved to travel, a passion that broadened her world and many friendships. Although born and raised in the Midwest, she would consider herself a "City girl" at heart. Rooted in a strong Christian faith, she met life’s joys and challenges with quiet perseverance and grace. Henri is survived by her children, Sonya Peterson (Kent), Gregg Van Ryswyk (Lynnae), and Julie Van Ryswyk (Jim); her grandchildren Emeri (Bobby), Lindsey (Duncan), Kaitlin, Nick (Faith), and Neil); her sister, Wilma DeBoer; and, was filled with much excitement around the anticipation of her first great grandchild, Eden. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her brothers James, Johnny, and Elmer Buist. Family and friends will remember Henri for her faith, devotion to family, and the generous spirit she shared with others. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched through her work, faith, humor, and vibrant personality. Relative and friends may meet the family Monday, September 29, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404.
