Henry Bryan Obituary

HENRY EDWARD BRYAN JR Henry Edward (Eddie) Bryan Jr., 77, of Griffin, GA was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 29, 2024, following an 18-month battle with cancer. Eddie was born December 4, 1947, in Boonville to parents Henry Edward Bryan, Sr. and Jessie (Simpson) Bryan who preceded him in death. He married D. Eilene Stowers in Benton, IL, on May 3, 1969. She preceded him in death in 2017. Also preceding him in death in 2007 was his brother Samuel Lloyd Bryan. Eddie is survived by a sister, Marilyn Bryan of Kansas City, MO, wife Sheryl (George) Bryan of the home (married Dec. 26, 2020); nieces, Brenda Bryan of Kirksville, Bonnie Bryan (Wayne); nephews Samuel Lee Bryan (Stacey), and Samuel Lynn Bryan (Samantha), all of Jefferson City, and great nieces and nephews Courtenee, Cheyenee, Jacob, and Dylan Bryan all of Jefferson City. He's also survived by his beloved dog Oreo, and several step-children and step-grandchildren. Eddie graduated from New Franklin High School in 1965 and studied civil engineering at the University of Missouri. He was a licensed surveyor in several states and worked on projects in MO, IL, IN, KY, GA, and Washington, DC including the KY Dam, coal mines, the Indianapolis and Atlanta airports, the DC subway, and major highway projects. He was a manager in the Cobb County GA Civil Engineering Department and retired in 2011. He developed a groundbreaking GPS network for Cobb County and was a member of the GA Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors Association. He was a devout Christian, an active member in his church and worked tirelessly with the Royal Rangers, ran his church's TV cameras, and mentored underprivileged middle school youth. As a passionate advocate for diabetes education, he was a motivational speaker with the A1C Champions, presenting seminars throughout the US and participating in several diabetes clinical trials. A celebration of life was led by Rev. Curt Johnson on January 3, 2025, in Griffin followed by burial.

Marilyn, I don't know if you remember me Beverly Hunt, I was a few years behind you, Eddie and Big Sam. So very sorry to hear of Eddie's passing and I didn't know that Big Sam had passed away as well. Thank you for sending it to the Boonville Daily as I was just thinking of you all the other day. I still live in Franklin. Sending you my thoughts and Prayers.
