Henry Chavis Jr.

Henry Chavis, Jr. was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 6, 1954 to Naomi and Henry Chavis of Raleigh, NC. Henry was the oldest boy of three sons. He leaves behind 2 brothers, Kenric Chavis, Rodney Chavis, 3 sisters Brenda Boone, Darlene Chavis, Wanda Tuck, sister-in-law Kemuiada Chavis and brother-in-law Simon Tuck. Nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Brandon, Kyle, Mariah, Sokara, Na-Asia, Eli, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Lana and Nicholas whom he loved very much. Numerous cousins.
Henry loved to read and listen to music.
He was the first handicapped person to drive a yellow taxi cab in New York City. This resulted in a televised news interview with him. Henry also participated in the New York City marathon for several years during the 1980-90's, completing each race. One year when he decided not to race, as witnessed by his sister Darlene, many runners stopped to greet Henry and asked if "he wasn't racing today".
Henry was a quiet, mild mannered person who will be missed and loved by us all.
