Sylvia J. Cohen, of Monroe Twp., passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Care One Assisted Living in East Brunswick. She was 94 years old. Born in the Bronx, she married Edward Cohen on June 19, 1955. They lived in East Brunswick for 35 years before moving to Monroe Twp. 28 years ago.
Sylvia has been a long-time member of the East Brunswick Jewish Center since 1963. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Sylvia was also a dedicated Mahjong player who enjoyed the competitive side of the game along with the social aspects including lunch with her friends. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband Edward Cohen. She was his devoted wife for 61 years. She is also predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Minnie (Gerhardt) Jarmark, her brother Jerome Jarmark, and her sister Roslyn Cohen.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Marcia and Roy Meyers of East Brunswick; her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Beth Cohen of Manalapan; and her grandsons Justin (wife: Maegan) and Spencer. Graveside Services will be on Thursday, February 19th, 11:00 am, at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
Shiva will be held on Thursday February 19th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the home of Stephen & Beth Cohen, 18 Briar Hill Drive, Manalapan. And a local Shiva on Friday, February 20th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the home of Marcia & Roy Meyers, 25 Lantern Lane, East Brunswick.
Contributions may be made in Sylvia’s name to the East Brunswick Jewish Center. Arrangements are by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. You may sign the condolence "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com
