Henry "Mack" Davis Obituary

Henry “Mack” Davis, 79, the heart of our family, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents James A. Davis and Margaret McDonnell Davis of El Paso, TX.

Mack is survived by his beloved wife, Marian, daughters: Rachel P. Davis, Bekki Davis Jones and husband David Jones, Regina E. Davis, and Jennifer M. Killian and Amy Davis Montgomery; sons: Eric Davis-Gonzales, Dominic R. Davis, William E. Killian and wife Natasha; sister Polly Blacklock and husband Tock, brother James “Jeff” Davis and wife Becky, as well as many of his beloved grandchildren: April M. Killian, Sarah M. Killian, Kahlo A. Davis, Sophia and Dawson Jones, Ethan, Tessa and Elijah Garcia, Noah Gonzales, Anissa Davis, Pricilla and CeeCee Montgomery and Xavier Finley-Killian. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

He was a “people person” and had many friends that loved his unique, dry sense of humor. He was also a deeply spiritual man that believed the spark of the Divine was inherent in every individual he met. After a 25-year career as an engineer with an aerospace company, he obtained another master’s degree in social work and became licensed to provide counseling. He then embarked on an 8-year career helping homeless veterans at the NM Veteran’s Integration Center, a role that he felt was so rewarding because not only did he feel an affinity with his Veteran brothers and sisters, but he was also living his spiritual practice of giving back to the world.

He and his wife had one biological child each when they began a 52-year marriage in 1974. The family grew as they added six more children into their family. These were all older children and/or sibling groups that needed families to grow up with. Mack’s commitment to his faith and his family is the legacy he leaves to the world.

For the last 26 years, he participated in a men’s prayer group which met weekly. One of his dear friends in that group reached out to his wife and wrote, “you and Mack formed a cornucopia of love, stunning in its beauty. He wanted to be the stable rock his family could rely on.” And he was.

A quote, from a beautiful gift, a golden necklace he presented to his wife last Christmas, “I loved you then, I love you still. I always have; I always will.” This quote represents the depth of LOVE that his entire family feels for him.

Mack's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00am at Reflections Chapel located at 2400 Washington St. NE, 87110. Service will begin at 12:00pm. Mack will be laid to rest will honors om Monday, March 30, 2026, at 1:00pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St., 87501.

Two groups that were dear to Mack’s heart were the New Mexico Veteran’s Integration Center www.nmvic.org/donate and the America’s Mighty Warriors www.americasmightywarriors.org both non-profit groups that provides programs to American veterans and their families. Donations to these organizations would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
