Henry Mismash Obituary

Henry James Mismash

"Jim"

September 11, 1941 ~ November 2, 2025

- Jim passed away peacefully, despite trying to convince us all no one ever dies peacefully in their sleep, with family around him on November 2, 2025, at 10:06 PM. He was at the ripe old age of 84, or as he would say his "85th year". He was a grumpy old man, but we love him. He grew up in Murray, UT and always called it "God's Country". He was raised by his mother, Betty Lou Foster and his adopted father, Frank Mismash. He attended Murray schools and graduated from the University of Utah. He played football, baseball, basketball, tennis and ran track in high school. He coached many young people in basketball to the varsity level including his own sons and daughters. He stayed in touch with many of his high school friends and was very involved in his class reunions. He was a lifelong student, always reading with a red pen, underlining words he didn't know. He had a knowledge of and love for classical music, and he was an excellent dancer. He worked as a concrete contractor, a trade he learned from his father. He shared that skill with his sons who continue that work to this day. He trained many young men in his trade who later went into business themselves. He had a big heart and was a good and constant friend to many.

He married Lynda Mae Dokos and they had and raised eight children together. They later divorced but remained good friends until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerrald, and two sons, Andrew and Nic. He is survived by six of his children. Sam and his children, Noah (Emma), Simeon, Eden, Jude, Scout and Maya. Andrew's wife Kristin and their children, Gabi, Jonah (Kaylee), Madeline and Isabelle. Lindsay (Alan) and their children, Jessica (Nick), Lydia (Carson), Katrina, Luke and Peter. Alex (Jodi) and their children, Hannah (Landon), Elizabeth, Abram, Jakob and Sarah. Ben (Leslie) and their children, Loren (Tanner), Campbell (Kyla), Dylan (Paige), Jesse, Laine and Brody. Anna. Morgan (Ryan) and their children, Nic, Eleni, Gracie and Thad. Six great grandchildren and two on the way. He never stopped loving our Mother.

Visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8th at the LDS Chapel at 11000 S. 1300 E. Sandy, UT. The visitation will start at Noon, with the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM. A luncheon for close friends and family will be provided after the service.

So long to a good friend and classmate at Murray High school class of 1960. Jim and I would talk on the phone at least once a month, going to miss our conversations .so long to a good friend

I went to school with Jim. I worked on a class reunion with him one year. He was a good man and had a good heart. I remember long ago school days especially in elementary because our grades were not too large, but he was always friendly. Forry for your loss, but the memories are forever.
