Henry J. "Hank" Mullen, Sr., 88, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at St. Joseph's Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Duffy) Mullen from January 22, 1966 until her passing in 2022.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Mary (McPeak) Mullen. Hank worked for Atlantic Refinery Co. for his entire career, taking on numerous and diverse roles for the company, which later transitioned into Sunoco. After retirement, Hank loved to keep up with and watch the stock market, among other lifelong interests. Over the years, he loved to study all things Irish, and was known for singing any and all Irish songs. Hank enjoyed dancing and traveling to Ireland with Rita, and taking family trips to Wildwood, New Jersey. Hank also enjoyed spending time with his family, telling them stories of his childhood, and sharing jokes, especially "dad jokes." Of all his traits, he will be remembered most of all for his sense of humor. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Surviving Hank are his children: Mary-Jo Mullen, Henry Mullen (Gretchen) and Rita Wise (Edward) and his grandchildren: Ellen, Alison, Josh, Samantha, Kate, Jonathan, Joseph, and Ellie. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Walsh, John "Jack" Mullen, and Elizabeth Creed.
Hank's Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola, 2600 St. Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
