Henry Powdrill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Home - San Antonio on May 7, 2023.
Obituary
Henry Jones Powdrill was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 9, 1964, to the late Maxine and Ellison Powdrill, Jr. Being the youngest of twelve children: 8 girls and 3 boys, he was doted on, spoiled, and pampered by the family. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He was baptized at Palestine Baptist Church under the direction of the late Dr. Pastor L.A. Crenshaw.
He attended the public schools in the San Antonio Independent School District: Grant Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1983. He also attended college at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Henry met his true love, Lisa Morgan, when he was in high school. Two years after graduation they united in holy matrimony and to this union a son, Amos Alonzo Powdrill, was born. Henry enjoyed talking about and sharing memories of his son whom he loved and cherished dearly.
Henry loved his family and friends. He was kind, caring, easy-going and well-liked. He always left a positive impression on the lives and hearts of those he knew and met. To know him was to "love" him.
Henry loved to dance and show-off his dance skills. He was a big fan of Tupac and Prince, incorporating their dance style into his own dance. He also regularly wore their signature headdress to "represent". He enjoyed the attention he received when he was called Tupac or Prince.
Henry was fashion conscious and dressed to impress. No matter what he wore he always received compliments. He owned his style and was affectionately referred to as "Mr. GQ". He also had a unique walk which complimented his style of dress. Many people referred to his walk as cool, smooth, or "suave". His walk coupled with his style of dress commanded attention.
Henry had his own special phrase he would say when ending conversations. PEACE OUT" was his way of communicating: "I love you; I'll talk to you later; and "You take care". He will be sadly missed by all who love him and whose heart he has touched in his special way.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Ellison Powdrill, Jr; One brother, Donald Ray Davis; One sister, Marilyn Louise Powdrill; Two nephews, Gregory Floyd Davis and Jerry Cornell Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: One son: Amos A. Powdrill; Seven sisters: Macie J. Thompson (Clifford Thompson); Wilma J. Odom; Novella Harvey; Katherine J. Roberts (Lutz, Florida); Carolyn A. Eddings; Geneva O. McGowan (James McGowan); and Gayle D. Sweatt; Two brothers: Emmett J. Berry; and Ellison Powdrill; One aunt: Marie Denning (Houston, Texas); Thirty nieces and nephews; fifty great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
