Henry J. Salajka

Henry John Salajka, age 90, passed away September 4, 2021 at his home in Warren with his family around him.
Henry was the beloved husband for 44 years of the late Dolores Salajka; loving father of Mark (Edith) Salajka, Sue (Jaime) Barra, Patti (Cal) Vincent, and Kathy (Joe) Kaferle; devoted grandfather of Anthony (Shelby) Salajka, Katie (Brett Badke) Salajka, Emily Salajka, Jason (Hannah) Barra, Samantha Barra, Mandy Vincent, Calvin (Leann) Vincent, Cody (Jess) Vincent, Jared Kaferle, Jessica Kaferle, and Kyle Kaferle; proud great-grandfather of James, Jackson, Henry, Teddy, Benjamin, Tommy, Oliver, Troy, and Lillianna; dear brother-in-law of Milo (Gilla) Hayes and Jim Hayes; and cousin of Mary Ellen (Lenny) Sosnowski.
Henry was a hard worker and passed on his work ethic to his children. He modeled his work ethic through his 35 years of service at IBM as a Field Engineer. He was also a very helpful person. You were lucky to have him as a neighbor, as he was a regular "Mr. Fix-It" and loved helping people out, fixing their cars or anything else he had knowledge of. If Henry was not at work or helping a neighbor with a project, you could usually see him enjoying time spent with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved seeing them flourish at their various sports and activities. He loved going to their ball games. Henry was a very religious man, was a devout Catholic, and an active and long-time member of the St. Cletus Parish, now Our Lady of Grace Parish. Henry also loved the classic music of the Big Band and Swing eras.
Visitation Thursday, September 9, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at David Wysocki Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan. Instate Friday, September 10, from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Parish (formerly St. Cletus Parish), 26256 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan. Interment service and military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
