Funeral services for HENRY LARRY SCHMICK, 90, will be held 10am Saturday March 7, 2026, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Betty Ann Murphy officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. The casket will be open one hour prior to the service. Henry passed away peacefully February 26, 2026, at Bear Creek Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com Henry was born April 16, 1935, to Henry and Rosie (Frank) Schmick in Torrington, Wyoming. He grew up in Torrington alongside his siblings. Wyoming is where his roots were and he was always very proud to be from Goshen County; this is where he got to grow up the "Wyoming way" He received his education from Torrington High School graduating in 1953. After graduating from high school, he joined the Wyoming Army National Guard as a mechanic in Guernsey, Wyoming. He married Pamela E. Wood January 15, 1956, in Torrington. After they married, his job took him to Cheyenne where he worked as an Aviation Mechanic. He and his wife moved to Sheridan following his work. In Sheridan he served for the 1st Battalion 49th Field Artillery Regiment. In 1995 he earned his much-deserved retirement after 42 years of full-time service in Cheyenne where he ended his career as the State Safety Officer. While working as the State Safety Officer Henry received his associates degree from Laramie County Community College. Some of his achievements included, winning the Chiefs 50 Badge, along with the Distinguished Shooting Badge (Pistol) and being a member of the Wyoming National Guard competitive pistol shooting team. Henry was very dedicated to serving his country and he took a great amount of pride in the things he accomplished during his career. Henry was a member of the Cheyenne Flying Club as a small airplane pilot, the Zion Congregational Church, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife and grandsons in the Bighorn mountains. His passion was researching and bringing to life his genealogy roots through the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. He got to preserve and document the legacy of German Settlers in the Russian Empire. Henry is survived by his two sons Douglas H. Schmick and Daniel J. (Jan) Schmick both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandsons; Darell Schmick, Jordan (Emily) Schmick, Hunter (Gigi) Schmick, Ryan Schmick, and great granddaughter Shoshana, sisters; Ginny Miller, Ruth (Barry) Long, Susannah Martinez, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rosie Schmick, wife Pamela, two brothers Edward and Kenneth Schmick.
