Henry Carter Shore, beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, teammate, and friend, passed away on December 6, 2025 at the age of 18. Henry was born on June 6, 2007, in Longview, Texas, to Kenneth and Lindsey Shore. A bright light from the very beginning, Henry filled every room-and every soccer field he ever stepped onto-with joy, humor, kindness, and extraordinary determination.

Henry grew up in Longview and attended School for Little Children, Hudson Pep Elementary, Foster Middle School, and Longview High School. From an early age, his passion for soccer was unmistakable. As a 14-year-old freshman, he made his first appearance for the Longview Lobo Varsity Soccer Team during the playoffs, an achievement marked not just by talent, but by grit and heart. He continued on the varsity squad during his sophomore year before transferring to Saint Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, where he played center forward for the prestigious Saint Stephen's Soccer Academy.

Henry thrived at Saint Stephen's. He was named Spartan Athlete of the Week during his senior year and led the team in goals, becoming a loved and respected teammate both on and off the field.

His club soccer career was equally remarkable. Henry began with the East Texas Wildcatters SC, then played for FC Dallas East Texas, where he again emerged as a leading goal scorer. He spent a season competing in MLS Next for IMG Academy and later joined Lonestar SC in Austin in the Elite Clubs National League. Soccer was not just Henry's sport-it was his passion, his community, and often, his passport.

Henry loved to travel, especially for the game he cherished. In 2021, he became only the second player ever nominated by Coerver Coaching Texas for the Coerver Benfica International Development Squad. After selection, Henry trained in Lisbon, Portugal, several times over the next three years. His time abroad shaped him deeply; he learned to order food and chat with locals in Portuguese. His skill and character led G.D. Estoril Praia, another Portuguese First Division club, to invite him for multiple tryouts-trips he bravely made alone-culminating in an invitation to join their development squad after high school.

Though proud and excited about the opportunity to play in Portugal, Henry ultimately felt called back to East Texas. After two visits, he chose to attend LeTourneau University, a place where he felt welcomed, valued, and at home. He decided to pursue a degree in Construction Management, with dreams of earning a master's degree in Real Estate at SMU and becoming a real estate developer. His family knows he would have created extraordinary places and spaces-his imagination was boundless.

Henry's first semester at LeTourneau was exceptional. He was named First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team, and Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals, including a thrilling hat trick-his first in college. He was confident he would make the Dean's List and was especially proud of his English Composition grade. After initially struggling with writing when he arrived at Saint Stephen's, he had worked tirelessly to master it, and his success meant the world to him.

Henry had a gift for people. He was a teammate who could be the class clown, the steady confidant, the co-conspirator, the encourager, or the role model-whatever someone needed at that moment. His bond with his siblings was profound. Phillip, only fourteen months younger, had truly been Henry's lifelong best friend; Henry never remembered life without him. His little sister, Eva Grace, was the joyful recipient of his affection, silliness, and relentless teasing in equal measure.

Henry was deeply loved by his parents, who rarely missed a game and cherished every moment spent traveling with him for soccer. Kenneth coached Henry for many years, and the memories built on those fields will forever be among the family's greatest treasures.

Henry is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Lindsey Shore of Longview; his brother, Phillip Shore, and sister, Eva Grace Shore; grandparents Darrell and Cathy Carter, and Ron and Jan Shore, all of Longview; Uncle Stephen Shore and Aunt Teresa Shore of Longview; Uncle Michael Shore and Aunt Judy Shore of Dallas; cousins David Shore, Brian Shore, Catherine Shore Halvorson, Patrick Shore, Gatlin Shore, and Emma Rose Shore; Aunt Kristen Carter Gugar and Uncle Mike Gugar of Tyler; cousins Kate Gugar, Olivia Gugar, and Charlie Gugar; and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, and second cousins. He was especially close to his great-aunt and great-uncle Jerry and Kathy Branum, who often came to watch him when he played near Dallas.

Henry is preceded in death by his grandmother, Grace Ann Shore, with whom he now rests in eternal peace.

Visitation for Henry will be held at First United Methodist Church in Longview on December 12, 2025 at 1PM. A funeral service will follow at 2PM. Henry will then be laid to rest at Friendship Cemetery in Gladewater, beside his beloved grandmother, Grace Shore.

Henry's life was full-full of love, full of passion, full of adventure, and full of promise. His legacy will be carried on by the countless people he inspired with his courage, kindness, and unstoppable spirit. He lived boldly, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
