Henry Eugene Thompson

Henry Eugene "Gene" Thompson, age 90, of Portland, passed away on July 22, 2022. Mr. Thompson was born in Illinois on May 30, 1932 to the late Lelon Thompson and Bertha Dixon Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a faithful member of the Portland Church of Christ. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his brothers, Winford, James and Virgil Thompson, along with two young sisters.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Sheucraft Thompson; children, LaJeana Barber(Barry), Tammy Lamberth(Dewayne), Missy Woodward(Terry) and Richard Thompson(Carrie); grandchildren, Blake Barber, Jared Barber, Allison Carroll(Sam), Jacob Barber(Allison Paige), Dillon Lamberth(Morgan), Todd Lamberth(Courtney), Mitch Woodward(Ivy), Thomas Woodward(Marissa), Peyton Woodward, Grant Thompson and Hank Thompson. Great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Daisy and Holly Woodward, Caroline and Cason Lamberth and Nolan Carroll.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Wilkinson Wiseman Funeral Home with Danny Thompson and Timmy Pardue officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at Corinth Cemetery following the funeral service.
Mr. Thompson's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Barber, and his DuPont an Remay coworkers and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Portland Church of Christ Education Fund, 202 North Russell St. Portland TN.
