Henry Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Circle of Life Funeral Home on Mar. 27, 2026.
With heartfelt love and admiration, we celebrate the life of Henry Leon "Hooks" Turner, also affectionally known as Mr. Hooks. Born March 16, 1945, in Chestertown, MD, Henry made his mark on the world with his creative spirit, inspiring outlook, and hilarious sense of humor. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Henry's life was a testament to his belief that a happy wife leads to a happy life. He was a beacon of joy and strength to his family and friends, always ready with a witty remark or a helping hand.

He applied his natural green thumb to keeping his yard, pool, and both the interior and exterior of his home immaculate. Henry's love for gardening was only rivaled by his passion for shining his Cadillac. As a Traffic Maintenance Worker for the City of Camden for 31 years, Henry brought the same dedication and meticulousness to his work that he did to his hobbies. He found great joy in traveling, with memorable trips to Paris, the Dominican Republic, and the unforgettable experience of dining in Prince's kitchen in.

The heart of Henry's life was his family. He was the proud father of Tene Irvin, Mark Frieson, Leon Turner, Taunya Pearson, Michele Turner, Joshua Holmes, Leon Holmes, She'Mar Turner, and Troy Emory. Henry was also a loving brother to Brian Black, Karen Nicholson, Roger Turner, and Diana Hale. He was a beloved husband to Theressa Irvin-Turner for 26 years, and a cherished father-in-law, brother-in-law, and son-in-law. Above all, he was a doting grandfather and great-grandfather to his 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and an amazing uncle to a host of nieces and nephews .

In the book of Matthew, Chapter 5, Verse 16, it says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Henry Turner lived these words every day, his actions and love inspiring everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Turner and Edna Barnes, his siblings Frances Black, Anthony Turner, Richard Cannon, Robert Cannon, Charles Cannon, Ruben Cannon, and his daughter Jamie Irvin.

Let us come together to celebrate the inspiring life of Henry Turner. Leave your memories, upload your photos, and share the joy he brought into your life on his memorial page. As his family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your love, prayers, and support during this time. A special thank you to Nurse Marcia Schanne and Juan Ruiz, Officer Rob Roseboro, and all others who have helped us in arranging these celebrations. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
