Henry Allen "Skip" Weaver Jr.

Henry Allen Weaver, Junior, better known as "Skip" to many people who knew him closely, passed away on January 24, 2026. He was born on March 22, 1955, in Hartford, CT. Born to the late Bernice Alberta Weaver and Henry Allen Weaver, Senior, he was the eldest of seven children. Skip was a big brother/surrogate father figure to most of his younger siblings. He was a sports enthusiast. A Baltimore Orioles fan in baseball, and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan in football. He enjoyed fishing, music, and television. Especially dramas, westerns, science
fiction, detective shows, and gangster films.

Skip was a deep thinker, always eager to engage people in discussions of the world, politics, and life in general. He could find a way to relate to all people, hold court in any arena, and establish a good conversation with ease.

Skip was a man who cared deeply for his siblings, their children, and grandchildren, always proud of his family heritage. He had a knack for giving his family members unique nicknames. "Floyd" for brother Marvin, "Weaver" for sister Cheryl, "DB" for sister Doria, "Keisha girl" and "Scratch Olley" for two of his nieces, to name a few.

Skip lived life "his way", through his own accord. A risk-taker and proud of it, he was willing to accept the consequences as they came, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. He was always ready to pick up any fallen pieces and keep moving forward. Skip made many associations in his life and was well known by many friends throughout the Torrington area.

In his youth, Henry was an avid baseball player with solid skills and dreams of being a professional. A fall from a tree and a damaged leg forced him to give up on that dream. The solid parenting of his mother helped him to refocus on his intellect and accept that his brain, instead of his physical talents, would move him forward in life.

Skip would later graduate from Post University with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and go on to be a regional retail manager throughout Connecticut. He started and operated many stores in the area such as Family Dollar, Kings Department Store, Ocean State, Brooks Pharmacy, and Bob's Shoe Store.

Henry A. Weaver, Jr. is predeceased by his father, Henry A. Weaver Sr. and his mother, Bernice A. Weaver (Rhone); his brother, Darryl S. Weaver; his paternal grandparents, John and Mamie Weaver-Bey of Hartford; his maternal grandparents, Alfred and Helen Rhone of Torrington; 1 nephew, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his brothers, John, Alfred, and Marvin Weaver; his sisters, Doria Battle and Cheryl Arroyo; 1 sister-in-law, Marvin's wife, Michelle Weaver; 2 brothers-in-law, Cheryl's husband, Ricardo Arroyo, and Major Battle; 2 aunts, Barbara Watkins of Torrington and Marva Clay-Bey of West Hartford; 4 nephews; 4 nieces; 4 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, and several cousins.

A memorial service celebrating Henry A. Weaver, Junior's life will be held at Workman Memorial AME Zion Church, 60 Brightwood Avenue, Torrington, CT 06790, at 11:00 a.m. on February 28, 2026.
