It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Herald W. Jenkins, Jr. affectionately known as "Cork."

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of Rebekah (Deisley) Jenkins and Herald W. Jenkins, Sr. He was the husband of Phyllis (Rinehart) Jenkins. Cork was proud of his military service in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He served in the 28th Infantry Division of the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1953 and then transferred to the Air Force in 1954. After serving in Korea, he was stationed in Massachusetts before returning to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Some may remember him from the Lancaster Press where he worked for decades. Others may remember him from the Masonic Lodge and Rajah Temple in Reading. Cork enjoyed traveling with his wife to various destinations including Mexico, Hawaii, and Canada. He loved fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Phyllis and Cork spent many summers in Ocean City, MD and Fenwick Island, DE where they made many friends.

During retirement, his favorite daily routine included going to "Stover's" for a newspaper, coffee at McDonald's and trips to Hollywood Casino.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 72 years, Phyllis (Rinehart) Jenkins. Two children, Sharon Lintner (Joe) and Craig Jenkins (Sue). Four grandchildren, Melissa Shirk, Philip Shirk (Ann), Brandy Harnish (Shawn), Brittney Diaz (Mikey). Seven great grandchildren, Rodie Cox (Carley), Tyler Douglas (Kristin), Owen Shirk (Olivia), Parke Harnish, Destiny Diaz, Liam Diaz and Eleanor Diaz. One great, great granddaughter, Oaklynn Shirk. Sister-in-law, Sheila Jenkins. Nieces, Debi Almquist and Kim Adams. Nephews, Geoffrey Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins and Chris Musser. He cared deeply about each family member and always wanted to make sure they were doing okay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Jenkins and James Jenkins, one sister Estella (Jenkins) Musser.

Our lives are forever changed and we will miss him everyday.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003.
