Herb Kortier

Herbert Charles Kortier age 83 of Tipton passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at his home with his family beside him. He was born June 26, 1939 in Putnam Co., OH a son of the late Omer Arnold and Florence Elizabeth (Bruskotter) Kortier. On June 20, 1959 he married the love of his life Rita Ronto and they shared 42 years together until her passing in 2001.
Herb retired in 1990 after 30 years with General Motors Company. He loved riding his motorcycle and going camping in his motorhome all over the United States. Spending time with family brought him much joy, especially over a hand of cards. Herb especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved animals and had many faithful canine companions and horses over the years.
Herb is survived by his daughters, Maria (Terry) Davis of Charlotte and Valerie (Mark) Wilson of Tipton; brother, Tom (Judy) Kortier of Ypsilanti; brother-in-law, Lawrence Hutchinson of Dearborn Heights; sister-in-law, Cecile Kortier of Hillman; special friend, Nadine Bullard of Chelsea; three grandchildren, Matthew Wilson of Warren, IN, Samantha Wilson of Jerome and Anna Davis of Charlotte; two great grandchildren, Ava and Sophia Wilson of Jerome. Besides his parents and his wife, Rita, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Kortier, Bety Grant, Mary Pavlik, Marce Hutchinson and Ron Kortier.
Visitation for Herb will be from 4pm – 5pm Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Tipton Community Congregational Church. Funeral services will follow at 5pm with Dr. Brad Smith officiating. Burial will be on Thursday at 11am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Lenawee County Humane Society and God's Helping Hands at Tipton Community Congregational Church.
