Herbert Anthony Callais, 84, a passionate gardener and fisherman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 surrounded in prayer by his loving family. Herbert is a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Cut Off, Louisiana who taught life-lessons to everyone he encountered.
Mr. Herbert is survived by his son, Timmy Callais (Renette); daughters, Tricia Stoll (John), and Lynette Duet (Darren); brother, Herman Callais (Mary); sisters, Laura Mae Adams, Audrey Dunning, and Enola Renois; sister-in-law, Judy Callais; grandchildren, Bryan Picou Jr. (Melinda), Timmy Callais Jr. (Bethany), Brandi Brumfield (Robby), Carley Duet, Paul Callais, Austin Duet, Jaelyn Duet, and Jude Duet; and great-grandchildren, Briley Picou, Kenedi Picou, Ryder Callais, and Emma Callais.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Danos Callais; brothers, Raymond Callais and Donald Callais; brothers-in law, Nolan Adams, Emmett Renois, and Steve Dunning; and sisters, Anna Mae Anselmi (Preston), and Virgus Patton (Guy).
Family and friends are invited to celebrate an amazing life during the visitation at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, April 21 from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am, with a burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the care team at ACG Hospice including Nurse Lindsey, Nurse Lacey, and Nurse Bailee. They would also like to thank Sally LeBouef, Sue Bruce, Kim Thibodaux, and Cheryl Chaisson for the love, care, and compassion they poured into “Pappy.”
