Ed was born on November 16, 1944 in Flint, MI to Herbert and Mary (Cluck) Cole. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1963 and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS CHIKASKIA (AO-54), working as a machinist. After four years of service, Ed was discharged and joined the Navy Reserves. After returning to Flint, he hired into the Chevrolet Metal Fabricating plant, working for General Motors as a welder and retiring after 35 years. Ed married Patricia Randall on December 2, 1978 and recently celebrated their 47th year of marriage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time at the cabin in Oscoda on Lake Huron. Eddie was even known to enjoy a round of golf with his sons-in-law and visit the local watering hole everywhere they went. He enjoyed going on road trips with his wife from Michigan to California, along Route 66 and US 2, stopping to visit friends in Arizona along the way. Ed loved cooking for his family and friends, especially southern style holiday meals that he learned from his Arkansas roots. He was so proud of his daughters and grandchildren and would tell everyone he met about them.
