Herbert J. Ellison, 56, of Wampanoag Drive, Mashpee, died on April 1, 2003 at the Mary McCarthy Hospice House in Sandwich.

Born in the Brighton section of Boston, MA on September 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Herbert H. and Mary (Riley) Ellison. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Ellison was previously employed as a computer lathe operator.

He was a member of Christ the King Church in Mashpee. Mr. Ellison enjoyed painting, shipbuilding and Civil War history. He volunteered to assist with library computer transfers.

He leaves a sister: Anne L. Ellison-Reveliotis of West Barnstable; two brothers: Bradford H. Ellison of Quincy; David A. Ellison of San Diego, CA; four nieces and a great niece and great nephew. He was the brother of the late Paul J. and Judith Ellison. Uncle of the late Judith M. Reveliotis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, South Street, Jamaica Plain with the Rev. Jerry Perno, officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

Memorial donations in Mr. Ellison’s name may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.
