Herbert - Forthuber

Herbert Forthuber (1955 - 2025) Herbert Forthuber, 70, of Benicia, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 15, 2025 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for the last few years. He was born in Austria to Herbert and Katharina Forthuber and immigrated to the US at an early age. He is survived by his loving wife Lynne, his children Gregory, Russell and Chelsea, his grandchildren, and his younger brother Frederick. Herb attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, where he developed an enduring passion for engineering and all things nautical. An avid outdoorsman from an early age, Herb's many hobbies included cycling, gardening, skiing, golfing, fishing and hunting. Herb and his wife enjoyed travelling the world with their friends in pursuit of good food and fine wine. Herb will always be remembered for his genuine smile, warm nature, quick wit and the ability to find joy in all that he did. These qualities of his character saw him create meaningful and lasting friendships with anyone he met. Services will be private. Details for a celebration of life are still being arranged and will be posted on Herb's Facebook. Cards, memories and stories are always welcome.
