Herbert Joseph Grumet, 89, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. Born on July 8, 1935, in New York, Herb was the beloved son of Isador and Faye Grumet.
Herb was a devoted husband to Natalie for 20 years until her passing in 1976, and Ellen for 44 years until her passing in 2023. He was a loving father, stepfather, and grandfather to his children Lori and Marc, stepchildren Brian, Caren, and Holly, and his grandchildren Jared, Lindsey, Nicolle, Amanda, Maya, Sarah, and Jordyn. He is also survived by his sons-in-law Bobby, Matthew, and Daniel, and daughters-in-law Joy and Elyse.
A proud Army veteran, Herb served his country with honor and went on to graduate from City College-Baruch with a BA in accounting. His career in managing accounting firms showed his dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Herb was a lifelong learner who found immense joy in reading, particularly mystery novels, and was a master of the New York Times crossword puzzles. A lifelong Yankees fan, he relished watching the game, a passion that began during his childhood stickball days in New York.
Among his greatest joys were traveling with Ellen to warm, sunlit destinations and celebrating the milestones of his children and grandchildren with love and pride.
Herb's family will honor his memory in a private service on Monday, November 18, where he will be laid to rest. Shiva will be observed at various locations. For more details, please call 201-396-8551.
Herb's legacy of love, wisdom, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
